Please join us in welcoming Johnny Mercer MP to Islington at our next fundraising event, where Johnny will be talking about his life in politics and the journey that took him there
Johnny's priorities and focus for his constituents:
Johnny has been the Member of Parliament for Plymouth Moor View since the 2015 general election, when he gained the seat from the incumbent Labour MP.
After a brief stint in the City, Mercer embarked on a career in the military and, after passing out from Sandhurst, undertook 3 tours of Afghanistan during which he worked as a liaison and training officer with Afghan forces, he was attached to a Special Forces unit and co-ordinated artillery and air strikes.
On his retirement from military service in 2013 Mercer was inspired to enter politics by his experiences and has stated that his primary aims in parliament are to improve the provision of mental health services and support for war veterans.
