Edward Waldegrave selected as Conservative Party Candidate for Barnsbury Ward By-election

The Islington Conservative Federation has selected Edward Waldegrave as their candidate for the coming Barnsbury Ward by-election, which will be held on 14th July. Edward is a 29 year-old barrister who lives with his fiancée in Barnsbury on Chapel Market. Having been active in Islington politics since 2009, he is keen to work hard for local people to raise the issues they care about, and to ensure that the Council’s overwhelming Labour majority is properly held to account.

General election results

Islington North and Islington South & Finsbury improved the Conservatives share of the vote by 3%, to 17% in Islington North and 22% in Islington South and Finsbury. The Conservative candidates, Alex Burghart and Mark Lim were the runners up in both seats. This is the first time since 1992 that the Conservatives came second in Islington in a General Election so a huge congratulations to Alex and Mark!

Islington Prospective Conservative Candidates Announced for the General Election

The Islington Conservative Federation has selected its Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for the General Election on 7th May 2015.Dr Mark Lim, an NHS doctor who grew up and lives in Islington, has been selected as the Prospective Conservative Candidate in Islington South and Finsbury. Dr Alex Burghart, Director of Policy at the Centre for Social Justice, who lives in Archway in the constituency, has been selected as the Prospective Conservative Candidate in Islington North.
